Directions to the Flying Field

Take Route 64 west towards Pittsboro. When you have crossed over ALL of Jordan Lake, take the first right hand turn, onto Big Woods Rd. Sign says NC Forest Resources Headquarters. Follow road to entrance of NC Forest Resources Headquarters. This is where our field is located, courtesy of the NC Rangers. The gate is locked by a chain with a combination lock. Members have the combination only after demonstrating their proficiency.

Visitors are always welcome..but you have to walk in from Big Woods road about 1/3 of a mile or so.

NOTE BENE - Our field is located adjacent to the NC Forest Ranger Headquarters. As a result of people working near our flying field during normal business hours, it is imperative that members fly only during weekends, holidays and after business hours during the week (after 5pm). If you are unsure about whether or not a particular day is a NC State holiday, please check this official state holiday page.
